How to Choose Event Furniture That Photographs Beautifully

Great event photos start long before the photographer arrives. Here is what we look for when selecting pieces that love the camera.

Start with texture, not colour

Cameras love texture. Velvet, rattan, brushed brass and raw timber catch light in ways flat surfaces never do. When you mix two or three textures across a tablescape or lounge, every angle gives the photographer something to work with.

Keep the palette tight

Three tones is the sweet spot: a neutral base, one warm accent and one deep anchor. Busy, multicoloured setups scatter attention in photos, while a restrained palette reads as intentional and expensive.

Think in layers

  • Low pieces for the foreground of wide shots
  • One statement item per zone to anchor the eye
  • Height variation so group photos have depth behind guests
Ask us for our most-photographed pieces when you enquire — we keep a short list for exactly this reason.
